I game at 1080p resolutions, but my next upgrade will be to a 27" 2560x1440 monitor. Once I find one with a good response rate.
Games I play, BF4, TitanFall, StarCraft 2, that's it for the moment.

You have almost the same set up as me. Except I have a 670.
IMO you have two reasonably priced options a 290 or a 780.

Can't argue with this. Either will do you well. The 290 Sapphire Ti-X is on offer at £320 this week, so could be a sway.

Depending on how much IQ you need, you might want to go dual card. But for that I would expect most would say you need an i7 to get the most out of it.

Best value for money does look like the 290 tho.
For 1080P your fine with the 680, but if you are going for a 1440P screen you should get a 290, its a little faster and cheaper than the 780, for BF4 you also have AMD Mantle API which gives you awesome performance.

The GTX 780ti is without a doubt the quickest card, it's also worth a mention of upcoming Nvidia drivers which are supposedly across the DX11 range and reported to give big speed boosts so I'd at least wait and see if there is any truth in that. Personally though, I'd go 780ti and add another in if needed or even if it isn't just for coolness
