Hi guys,

my contract's up for renewal and previously with Vodafone I managed to wrangle a HTC Desire 300mins, 600 texts and data for £25. I've not bothered looking around for phones for 18 months so i'm not clued up on current models. I was wondering what would be a good upgrade on for a similar monthly cost, and also on Android preferably?

Samsung Galaxy S II unless you think it looks horrible/don't like the TouchWiz software in which case look at the HTC Sensation.

Always aim for the Galaxy though, it's the better device overall.

That's quite an expensive plan.

I got the SGS2 on a 12 month contract a few months ago for £35pm and no phone cost.

Post a better one for the op?

plus its only £40 dearer than yours over the whole year - can get £30 cashback from quidco.

Cool... Just wondering how the look of the phone will be affected as they wouldn't be giving you a replacement back cover if it didn't need one....

1.5mm extra thickness is sod all though... Battery life on a smart phone is a high priority for me these days... More so than, say, an extra 3mm of screen space...

the new back cover sits almost flush with the little bump on the bottom (speaker area).

Unless you can't do without Sense then I also back the SII. They are working on a Sense 3.0 port though and there are lots of simple mods to make Touchwiz better.

i haven't actually used touchwiz, does it have pinch and zoom and all that jazz? I also use the friend stream, mail and calender widgets. Are there equivalents in touchwiz? Is Launcher Pro a better option?

TouchWiz is generally fine, if you don't like it just use Launcher Pro or Go Launcher EX.
