My contract is up next month and I don't really keep up with phones so I'm out of the loop. I want an Android phone, something that takes excellent photos and isn't going to cost me £50 pcm, they're about my only requirements. I've done a bit of reading and some people are suggesting that there isn't really a decent upgrade on the P30 Pro yet - is that true? It's been 2 years so I find that hard to believe, but then there has been a pandemic. Any thoughts?

I'm in the same boat, and I'm going to keep my P30 Pro and lower my contract cost. I've got my wife a P30 pro now as well.

I think it's a bit of a unicorn phone. Because Huawei can't really sell a better phone in the west, they're more interested in keeping you in their ecosystem than pushing out patches to slow the phone down (unlike every phone I've owned before which has mysteriously started to lag around the 2 year point ).

And realistically, phones haven't really moved on much since it came out. To get better you're looking at things like the Samsung/Xiaomi Ultra's.

Pixel 6 on ID Mobile (Carphone Warehouse, piggybacks on Three) could be a good shout. Starts at £29.99/month + £49.99 upfront for 20GB, but isn't much more for larger data plans.

The Pro is another tenner a month.
