Hi everyone
I'm thinking it's time to upgrade my system.
I don't really want to bin everything, I have a decent graphics card (GTX980Ti), and my system runs off 6MB SATA SSDs, which I'd like to keep also.
I'm currently using an I5-2500k on an Asus P8Z68-VPro/Gen3 with 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM.
I really like Intel CPUs and Asus motherboards, don't want to watercool.
I'm thinking I7-9700 maybe? Does anyone have any suggestions about a good mobo/CPU/RAM combo that would be beneficial in terms of on bang-for-buck upgrade please?
I'm not a big gamer, but I do like nice graphics, and if I can just make it feel a bit quicker, that would be good.
Thanks in advance for any advice

The best you can do on that motherboard is Core i7-3770K, I would honestly look at moving to a new platform, AMD is the recommended at the moment.

This would be a good option;
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £568.42 (includes shipping: £10.50)

I don't know how much you anticipated to spend?
What power supply do you have also as that may need to be replaced. Feel free to keep your current case and SSD etc.

It is difficult to suggest to buy second hand parts etc as prices fluctuate but if you were to buy new then the above would sort you out.

980ti still isn't a terrible card, what resolution do you play at?

You could try and pick up a 5700xt or 2060 super/2070 super in a black friday deal for a big boost on that front if you needed to.

Thanks - that really helps. I have a plenty big enough PSU and an Antex full tower case with plenty of cooling. I have an Acer predator monitor and play at 2560 x 1440.
Just as a comparison, if I really wanted to stay with Intel and Asus, what would you recommend?
Thanks again for your help

Ok, so with that monitor you definitely would enjoy a 5700xt or 3070.

Sorry but I haven't looked at Intel in years, its just no longer competitive at almost every price point as far as I have seen in reviews. By all means get an ASUS b550/x570 board but I wouldn't go for an Intel, the two generation CPU for one motherboard socket style really irks me also.

Some big physical size or numbers in sticker don't guarantee anything.
And in case of low quality cheapo it would be old.
So what's the actual model number?

Asus is of no higher quality brand than others.
In fact their B450 chipset boards were literal scams incapable to properly supporting all claimed CPUs...
Because of garbage level good only for 65W TDP CPUs VRMs even in the most expensive gamer hype Strix.

And in X570 Asus has chipset cooler design straight from anus of brand hype marketroids:
Actual heatsink under marketing excrement covers is from tiny to small.
And relies of constant airflow from constantly running fan... Constricted by more marketing excrement in many models.
With whole crud in the worst position directly under graphics card to be bathed in its heat.
Put there high end graphics card and chipset will be fast running warm in gaming sessions.
And should be clear what happens if/when that fan wears out.

For comparison sensible choise Gigabyte and MSI X570 boards are capable to mostly passive chipset cooling, because of proper size heatsink and fan positioned farther from heat of graphics card.

Though for bang per buck B550 boards are more sensible with good options starting from around £150.
