Afternoon all.

I've got an Intel i5 4670 (non-k) in my PC and I'm debating picking up an i7 4790K to boost my PC's lifespan at a cheap cost.

The 4790k seems to be selling around £150 in the MM so should be able to get around £85ish for the 4670.

I play games at 1080p and that's pretty much it.

I know I'll only get a few FPS more but I know that BF1 / ME:A will benefit slightly from the HT.

Opinions?

I say yes do it, the i7 trounces the i5 in cpu intensive games especially at 1080p

As it's a pretty cheap upgrade after the sale of your 4670 go for it. You gain HT and will be 600mhz better off even before overclocking. It's a move I have been considering myself.
