Upgrade from i5 750?

The release of some games like Crysis 3 and Tome Raider have made me think maybe it's time I upgrade my 1st gen i5 750?

A 3.7GHz 750 is not going to be that far off stock 2500K/3570K performance, I suggest instead of changing CPU/mobo and all the fuss you look into beefing up the cooling and go for higher clocks.

For an interim upgrade you could always hunt around for a cheap i7 920 or 930. I know most people here will say HT isn't worth it for general gaming, and they're right. But Crysis 3 is one of the new batch of titles that benefits from it, apparently making a significant difference to performance.

Those are LGA1366 chips, I think your thinking of i7 860/870's.
