So I'm thinking about upgrading some parts to my gaming PC in the near future and just looking to see what is a decent upgrade for gaming and some video editing. I'm in no hurry as my current system still performs ok but my current GPU needs a respectable CPU to play with!

My current system ...

I7 8700k
Aorus Z370 Gaming 5 Motherboard
16gb Team Group Dark Pro "8 Pack Edition" DDR4 3200MHz
RTX 3090 FE
Corsair AX860i PSU
Noctua NH-D14 Cooler
Sabrent NVME 1TB
Samsung evo 840 SSD 250GB
Samsung evo 850 SSD 500GB
Corsair 5000D airflow Case
MSI 165hz 1440p monitor
3 X LG 144HZ monitors

I'm possibly thinking along the lines of a 13700k
Gigabyte Aorus Z690 or Z790 Motherboard with wifi,
32GB DDR5 memory.

I know this is the last CPU to fit this LGA 1700 Socket motherboard before 14th Gen comes out but looking at my upgrade path it's going to be around 5 years before my next major upgrade. I can get an adapter for my Noctua cooler for the LGA 1700 board, this cooler has been faultless in the years that I have had it so would be a shame to swap it now when it still performs really well. DDR5 could still be used in a future upgrade so that is my thinking there.

So after looking into this a little more I'm thinking of the following or something very similar, not 100% sure on the ram yet though.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,245.47 (includes delivery: £10.50)

Of course there are better prices than these around and also black Friday is looming :)

I dont think you would lose that much real world performance by getting this pair instead

I also have an 8700k and this is exactly the type of upgrade i was thinking to do. Only i wasnt sure to go DDR5 or just stick with DDR4

You can get 32gb ofDDR5 5600mhz for £170 that would sway me to go DDR5 as it will benefit further as DDR5 matures.

I know there is more value in going the 13600k route but I am also thinking of doing some light streaming, would the 13700k be able to cope much better having the 2 extra cores or would it be negligible?
I can't find any comparisons of this type.
Good shout on the DDR 5 5600 memory above for £170

Streaming doesn't need much the 13600k has 8 e cores that should be able to handle that.

Google 13600k streaming and read some reviews.
