What do you do with the PC? For productivity, my suggestion would be a 12700 non-K or a 5900X. The MSI Z690-P DDR4 is £160 which looks decent value if it performs like the Z690-A. OCUK's B550/X570 pricing is a bit all over the place, so not sure there, maybe the Asus Tuf B550-Plus Wifi for £150.

Bang for the buck are the 12400F and Ryzen 5600. Both are 6 core, 12 thread, and under £200. But Intel are launching their 13th gen CPUs which can also use DDR4, so you might want to be patient and wait for the 13400.
this is good information, i havent done any upgrades really in 5+ years as the machine runs spot on and does what i need it too. so i could hold out a bit longer, i do like Intel over amd, althugh i did have a thread ripper for a while and was impressed with it

I would wait as the 13th Gen CPUs are out in a few weeks and you can choose, cheaper motherboards and DDR4 over the high cost of Ryzen 7000.

Also for once looks like Intel will have the cooler CPUs, though temps high nothing compared to the Ryzen 7000.

I would also suggest Intel 12th/13th Gen or Ryzen 7000, for PCI 5.0, as well as other newer features, for greater longevity of the build.

if you keeping long term and upgrading now and cant wait. go 12700 or 5800 3xd if gaming. dont go lower. i upgraded a rig recently from a ocd 5820k and the 12700 is a nice jump.
