got an offer to sell my 5870 for £100, but what to upgrade too???

Was looking at 7850 but performance wise it looks more like a side step but with the benefits or less power/noise/heat and getting a more upto date card. So should I splash out the extra cash for a 7950 or something else?
I'm mainly thinking ATI at the moment due to the prices compared to NVidia offerings.

So what do you people think would be my best choice - as i wont be getting the upgrade for a week or two dont worry too much about this week only offers at the moment :)

my rig specs:
CPU: i7 930 running @ 3.6Ghz
RAM: 6GB patriot viper running@ 1600Mhz 8-8-8-24
PSU: Corsair TX750
Mobo: X58-UD3R

i upgraded from 5870 to a 7850,was a good upgrade, less juice and far quieter, performance has improved too esp when overclocked which is a doddle on those cards

which 7850 did you get wazza- and how far did the oc take you? I know the vast majority of the 7850 oc v nicely. anybody know if the 7950 have similar oc potential or are they more hit and miss?

i got the msi twin frozr 3,simply because it had 3 year warranty,im a big sapphire fanboy but two year warranty put me off

i only had a quick play with voltage increase 1.50v EDIT (1.15v)got me 1.150mhz core 1375mhz memoryv got me 1.150mhz core 1375mhz memory me 1.150mhz core 1375mhz memoryv got me 1.150mhz core 1375mhz memory

i just max the ccc overclock sliders so 1050mhz core and 1450mhz memory with voltage untouched 1.3v i think

have no idea what the 7950's are like

i came from a sapphire 5870 vapor-x

yeah i remember reading about a update you can push through to unlock the sliders in CCC for the 7850's so you can go up to 1200 core.

I agree when it comes to buying g-cards, warranty is a big seller for me too. one of the main reasons i want to upgrade my 5870 as it's now out of warranty as of this month. game wise it handles anything i throw at it on high/ultra settings

you use asus gpu tweak or msi afterburner to unlock voltages, but all those cards will max out ccc overdrive limits

most thing youll notice is no fan noise at all at full gaming, heat ive seen 70c max on a hot day,and only one pci-e 6 pin power plug,my old 5870 needed two

Thanks guys. Looks like 7950 it may be. I'll start the comparing on different coolers and best clockers. Quite liked the look of the ms tf3 cooler i saw last year on a mates 6 series, but the sapphire and windforce look gd too.
