What would be a good upgrade for me from the R5 1600

Looking at benchmarks the 3600 doesn’t seem like it’s that much of a bump unless really cheap.

Obviously 2nd hand is fine but looking for bang for the buck.

What's your main use ?

If gaming 5700x3d is the gaming price to performance king .

Seems smart to go 5000 of some sort but you'll likely need a BIOS update to do so.

Gaming really. Pairing with a 3060ti.

Will take a look at the 5000 series cpus pricing.

Bios update is no issue as I’m pretty sure that’s just whack in a usb and flash in the uefi. MSI Mortar Max MATX.

cheers guys. Deffo good for thought anyways.

I don’t play any super high demanding games so the 5600 looks like it would be a massive jump and under £100 too which is ideal.

as much as the 5700x3d sounds appealing it’s quite a lot more than I’m looking to pay.

Looking around I can get the 5700x3d for £138 (from overseas) and looking at the bay I can get £30 for my 1600AF.

Anyone bought the one from overseas before? They all good?

be careful when you upgrade the bios and make sure you follow all the steps recommended by the motherboard model which usually are a few bios updates (don't jump to the latest bios!)

Edit: sorry, I posted this after reading only the first page!
i read through all the instructions and it didnt mention anything about doing incremental updates so just jumped in with the lastest one and it all updated fine. just waiting on the cpu now. need to grab myself some thermal paste too

what cooler do you have at present?
it may be more worthwhile to get a better cooler (which will come with thermal paste)

the £16 thermalright assassin king ak120se springs to mind immediately, and it comes with high quality paste...and rgb if that's your cup of tea too lol :)
no point getting a beast cpu and hamstringing it with a wraith stealth lol
i have the cryorig H7 so should be all good
