Upgrade/Full Build, Timing?

Thinking about buying a new PC soon just wondering if the timing is right seeing how graphics cards are extortionate and haven't really kept up with PC hardware lately, any new CPUs/GPUs on the horizon worth holding out for?

My current build runs everything perfectly fine, bar from a few hiccups like loading speed, frame drops and freezes in games like SQUAD and Arma3. (Probably game issues) also i don't think it fully utilizes my monitor.

The load times could also just be hard drive issues which is part of the reason i want to upgrade, for the new hard drives which i don't think fit my current mobo.

Anyway if it IS a decent time to buy something future proof I could use some suggestions on what to buy, my budget is around £2000 maybe north of that if it's worth the extra.

But it must be easily customizable / upgradeable (Case/Mobo Mainly), Future proof for later tech e.g. all the latest USB ports etc and preferably quiet/low temp. Other than that just needs to be primarily a gaming PC.

What resolution is your monitor? Have you run MSI Afterburner and Performance Monitor to determine where your bottleneck lies?

As for upgrades, now is not the time to move to DDR5 - being scalped - and Intel are allegedly releasing their new GPUs in March.

intel just released 12th gen cpu with Z690 boards, AMD releasing last set of cpu's with 3d v cache in Jan for AM4 so would wait for that. AM5 platform and cpu's at the end of next year. Nvidia releasing some super variants of their 3000 series cards in Jan also, some on 4th Jan, some 27th. Also Intel will be releasing there new GPU's, arc sometime also so maybe know more abnout it after CES...hopefully another player adding more cards to mix might lower prices a tad...think there top card will be 3070/3070ti area from youtubers

Ah nice guess a lot going on in the PC world, i guess i'll check back after march at the very least hopefully prices have dropped so more bang for buck.

Cheers for the replies lads, much appreciated.

Yep, graphics card prices are nuts.
Intel is possibly at least announcing their discrete GPUs in CES, so those might bring some competition to prices.

On CPU side AMD should be releasing updated Zen3 with 3D stacked extra L3 cache.
(DDR5 based AM5 platform and Zen4 is propably end of year)

As for proper size SSD you should get it now if you play bigger games.
Old spinning rust simply sucks for loading big games, unless assets are stored in very specific way.

"Modern" disposable fad cases are very unupgradable and unfuture proof for adding any future ports, because of no 5.25" bays
