Just over two years ago I bought an MSI laptop (https://goo.gl/SDcOhN) from OCUK and it's done me well for various LANs and on the move but it is starting to struggle a bit with never games. The Division for example runs but everything is set at low/off and it's still quite laggy.

I've had my eye on https://goo.gl/TbD60v as a replacement and I have also toyed with the idea of going smaller and getting something like this instead https://goo.gl/ajhtR8.

I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on these particular laptops? Is there any others I should consider that maybe offers better price/performance ratio?

My budget is probably around £1k but would stretch it to £1.4k-ish if there was a noticeable improvement.

Also is £500 a realistic price to get selling on my existing laptop? Tried searching about but can only seem to find old reviews.

I have an alienware 14" with the exact same spec as your current laptop. I have seen a lot of 970m laptops but I honestly thing it's worth going for the 980m as it offers a substantial increase.

Hi ZeroG.

What kind of games do you play ? At the high end of your budget you may want to have a look at this GT72 available through OcUK

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...x-980m-4gb-gddr5-gaming-laptop-lt-205-ms.html.

It comes with GTX 980M (4Gb GDDR5) so should run the division at a really high settings. The other thing to consider is that the 980M is based on MXM technology. So as investment, this is a good choice as you. If Nvidia launch any new products in the future, you can always upgrade the Graphics without swapping out the entire laptop :)

If your budget is closer to £1K then have a look at this bad boy https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...tx970m-3gb-gddr5-gaming-laptop-lt-240-ms.html

15.6"
Latest Intel Skylake i7 6700HQ
128GB SSD
16GB DDR IV
GTX 970M

If you have a look at Game Debate (an excellent website to see what kind of experience you would get) would suggest that you should be able to enjoy The Division on Ultra settings at 1920 x 1080p http://www.game-debate.com/games/in...GB+SLI&ram=16&checkSubmit=#systemrequirements

At the moment I'm mainly playing The Division, Fallout 4, Killing Floor 2 and some various non-graphical intense games. The GT72 does indeed look nice, I didn't look at the 980's too much as I didn't think I would get one under £2k.

Running The Division on a GTX 980M @ 1080p and it looks stunning.

Game play is very smooth.
