Upgrade Hardware for Windows 10

Hi Guys - I'm a newbie and not very techie so go easy please :).
I've started to think about upgrading to Windows 10 and the implications for my existing set up.
Mainly use the PC for home office but my 14 yr old son also uses it for gaming (although he generally uses his PS4). Current specs are :

GPU GeForce GTX 750 Ti
CPU Intel Core i5 2500K Processor 3.30 GHz
RAM 2 x 4GB DDR3
Motherboard Asus P8Z68-V LE Motherboard
PSU Xigmatek Premium Grade 500W PSU
Case Xigmatek Asgard Black
Harddrive Samsung HD103SJ 1TB
SSD Samsung 850 Evo 500GB SSD
OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64

Over the course of the last few years I've upgraded the graphics card and added an SSD. My question is can I salvage any part of the existing system (eg case / SSD / GPU?) or am I better off just starting from scratch. Budget for starting from scratch would be £600.....

Any help / suggestions gratefully received
 
Hi and welcome to the forums :)

Your existing setup will be fine upgrading to Windows 10. I'd wait until AMD release Zen 2 in a couple of months time before deciding on any upgrade as the landscape may change significantly, especially in terms of bang/buck.

Other than the concern of a new operating system do you have any other reason for upgrading?
 
Thanks for replying, I was concerned that some of my current components are quite old (motherboard, cpu) and that they may not be up to running Windows 10. I'm happy to wait until later in the year.

What's th specific model of the case? Either of these?

Those wouldn't be fit for gaming PC with more powerfull graphics card.
Seriously restricted exhaust fan hole and PSU on top forced to suck in heat from components design had its best before date some 15 years ago.
At least without showing it some Dremel wany higher heat output graphics card would be problematic.

SSD and HDD can be reused.

Anyway for bang per buck it's best to wat for Zen2 CPUs.
Also memory price is coming down after having been many years heavily inflated by DRAM maker cartel.

Only 1 of the Antec PSUs left and when they are gone they are gone :)
