upgrade help(cpu-mobo)

yes im new here (registered wise) i always have a look on the forums on whats hot and whats not ect.

but...

i need help in deciding on a upgrade

current specs

amd 4200x2

2gb ram

2900xt(keeping this until the 4 series comes out)

im looking for a gaming chip plus i do some light video encoding ect.

so i was leaning towards a q6600

but i also like the clocks people are getting from the 8400 duel core.

i know i want a good x38 mobo with duel 16x pcie(2.0) for future crossfireX

i already have 3gb of ram(geil 800mhz

so any advice on the best chip,and good over clocking x38 thats not pricey

would be greatly appreciated.
 
Well would you say you're struggling badly with gaming and encoding now? If not then why not wait a couple of months (next gen of graphics cards out this summer by the looks of it). By then the X38 motherboards should be more mainstream and the CPUs should drop in price too.

well ive been getting bits and bobs for my new build,

i have a psu ,3gb of ddr2,antec case all sitting there atm.

i am going to get a x38/x48 mobo but cant decide on witch one,

the cpu chip is also a bit mind boggling.

i am gona wait for gfx upgrade..but tba my 939 rig is ok but not to the performance i would like.its done me good for almost 3 years so a upgrade is needed.

any tips would be great
