upgrade help for a noob

hi i think its time to upgrade i currently have
3.10 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core
4gb corsair xms ram
ATI Radeon HD 4800 x2 in sli
dfi lanparty dx mother board
corsair tx650w psu
im looking for a good bundle and gfx card for around £600 i have a 500gb hard drive should i get a new one or will it be ok i dont save movie files so dont need lots of storage im running vistax64 should i upgrade to win 8 ?
also is my psu powerfull enough any help would be apriciated as ive never upgraded befor cheers ian

ps, psu should be fine for a single card, money left over for a win 8 upgrade as well :)
 
I take it your keeping your case and case cooling the same.

I would look for system upgrade bundles for about £350 -£400. There are some great OC bundles here.

The Intel extreme masters z77 bundles is very nice, but it does reduce the cash you have for the gpu.

Be sure your case will accomodate the cooler though.

The remaining £250 (ish) spend on the best single GPU deal you can get.
Your PSU and HDD should be fine.
You can add an SSD later for a faster boot drive.
