Hi all. Apologies for rambling post and vagueness but the world of new PC's has moved on a long way since I last followed any sort of hardware curve.

Wondering if anyone can suggest whether an upgrade is needed or not. I am so far out of the loop at the moment that I wouldn't know where to start.

I am mainly a player of MMO's with World of Warcraft and World of Warships being my primary 2 games. I do LAN games with some friends occasionally each year and will play other things and would like to keep my PC in my MicroATX case where possible to keep it portable.

Is there value in looking to go 4k for gaming? Would my base spec support it with just a GFX card update or is it too big a jump?

Current PC is a Gigabyte mobo (model escapes me at the moment) with an Intel i5-3470K and 8Gb DDR3 RAM. I have a GTX 760OC 4Gb card which barely fits the case. CPU is cooled by a Coolermaster AIO water cooler unit a friend gave me.

Data is stored on a pair of Samsung EVO SSD's and a pair of 2Tb mechanicals for less intensive data.

Everything is powered by a Corsair 650W modular PSU. Have standards changed on these a lot? Are newer PSU's with newer pin configs needed for new upgrades?

I was considering just changing out the card for a GTX 1050 and getting a new monitor as mine is a bit tired.

Currently using a Samsung 1080p 24" LED screen. It OK but not the nicest and I need to buy a new screen for my son soon so could just give him that one if I upgrade mine.

Basically. Do I need to change everything? Would a 1050 work in my older PC or would the CPU restrict it too much? No idea on budget at the moment.

If it makes a difference, case is a Bitfenix Prodigy so not a massive amount of room in it.

1050 would work but is not a worthwhile upgrade from 760. Approximately just 30% faster. If at all possible, keep going with the 760 until you can get something better (RX 480/GTX 1060). If not, then try for 1050Ti.

Is the CPU overclocked?

CPU isn't overclocked. I never really saw the point in clocking new kit and just get whatever works. The CPU was actually free from a friend which is why I ended up with a K.

If I upgraded the card to a 1050 or even a 1060 would the rest of the box be enough to push for 4K? I do fancy getting a new 28" 4k screen but don't want to blow a lot on having to upgrade everything to get there. I may just upgrade the screen to 27" 1080P and be done with it.
