Is it worth upgrading at the moment? Im coming into some spare money soon and thought i might upgrade my PC.

How is this spec looking, i don't know much about CPU's at the moment, haven't really looked since i bought my 3200 when it first came out. My current spec is in my sig, and i will be keeping all other hardware/peripherals apart from the replacements below. Are the parts i have chosen worth upgrading too? If you can do a better spec for cheaper, please show :D

thanks

I would recommend dropping the E6400 and getting an E6300 and overclocking it.

The only real difference between them is the 6400 has a higher multiplier, which doesnt matter with a good motherboard anyway.

Drop the motherboard and possibly get the DS3 board, (many seem to love it) assuming you dont want to crossfire or anything its one of the best boards. Its a 965 board, and many seem to think they are better for E6300 OR 6400.

As for the ram, many are enjoying success with the Geil DDR2 6400 Ram...

*EDIT*

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core2duo-e6300_11.html I may as well give you the same link as someone else, a smallish overclock for the E6300, many are hitting 3.2 - 3.4GHZ with the CPU.

Thanks for the reply, taken your suggestions into consideration. The price was a lot cheaper so i chose an XT-X 512mb card instead.

Whats does everyone think about that now? :)

Is it worth spending £650 on that spec now? Or should i wait a bit longer?

Hmmm... if you could stretch just a tiny bit more, you could get the 8800 GTS which would stamp on the Xt-X.

If not, I recommend buying a Pro OR 1950 XT. save the money for DX10. I dont see the point in spending the best part of 250 on a DX9 card.

*EDIT*

Is your Hiper PSU going to put out enough juice, as in are the rails good, and do you have the 6 pin PCIE adapater, or just the standard old style ones?
