Hello,

My brother wants his PC upgrading.

The specs are, P4 1.8A Northwood, 512Mb RAM, Nvidia AGP Geforce FX 5900 XT 128Mb.

The system is getting old now, hes had the graphics card 2 years and the CPU and mobo are older than that.

He mainly plays games and not sure what is the best upgrade path for him.

Hes on a very tight budget. I think its best if we just upgrade the CPU, Mobo, RAM and graphics card (leave everything else)

Say £300 to spend, less is better :)

Thanks Ben

a modern low end pc would be better than an old mid range pc!

definately wants another stick of 512 in it though!

Thanks for that sounds good.

Think i will change the mobo for one thats SLI, hopefully save a few pounds.

The 512Mb RAM he has now is very old so doubt we will beable to use it.

How does the ATI Radeon X800 GTO 128Mb compare to his 5900 now ?

Thanks Ben

much much better! :p

as far as im aware, the 5900 has 4 pixel pipelines. the x800gto has 12!!!

edit: also the 5900 is a directx 8 card i think. youll see lots of nice shiny DX9 effects!
