Hi, well my computer is aging now and its time to upgrade, I am going to upgrade the Motherboard, CPU and Ram, the budget is £400.

So far I have decided on the CPU and Ram:

C2D E6600 @ £178 : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-128-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=793
GeIL 2x1GB PC6400 800mhz @ £93 : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-064-GL&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813

Now the Motherboard has to be £130 or less, on another forum I have helped people with upgrade advice, but never really been good as choosing motherboards, so the motherboard you think will be good for me, could you tell me why its good etc..

But yea there is some thing this board should have/ be good at doing.

Wi-Fi
Good Overclocking
Decent onboard audio with Coax/Optical or just one of them (Would prefer to sell my X-Fi to free up space and I am sick of the I/O Box and the awfull IDE cable with it  )
Bluetooth (if motherboards have it  )
And the capabilities for 3 IDE HDD's + Optical driver) (If finding a mobo that can have 3 IDE HDD's and 1 optical drive would be abit hard these days then one IDE port for 1 HDD + Optical will be ok as I will just set my server up for the other 2.

Any other reccomendations on Ram and CPU are welcome.

Thats all :)

DS3P would suit you fine then, and that's sub £90.

As for CPU, I'd wait for the 6320 and 6420 and go for one of them instead, they'll be much cheaper and will have exactly the same specs as the 6600 when clocked (bar the 9x multiplier).

At this point in time it is actually worth waiting! :D

Well I will be wanting to overclock it past E6600 speeds which I udnerstand the E6600 will be better for?

p5n-e sli for the win

overclocks well too (see my sig)

Woah, with stock cooler??, if not, how far you think I can overclock with stock cooler? or what cooler would you reccommend?

Anyone think the GeIL ram that I choose will be good at overclocking too?

personal use of the geil ram dont yeild much overclocking headroom ,the latest stuff dont seem too anyways. Read up a little and you should find a more suitable clockers ram ;)

DS3P is no slouch when it comes to clocking either. 3.4ghz perfectly stable from a 1.8ghz 4300 is excellent. See siggy. Watercooled though.

i have a ninja rev b and a noctua nb cooler...

without the nb cooler i couldnt get 3.8 stable at all.. now i can get 4ghz 3dmark stable (ot orthos as orthos takes it to 75° in 2 mins)

nb cooler, Northbridge right? So that gets overclocked? So with the same cooler as you and a northbridge cooler I could be getting 4ghz? Does this increase fps in games allot more than stock?

Did the Scythe Ninja require any customizing to be placed on your motherboard? And did it come with Thermal Paste? And is the 120mm fan that comes with it good enough?

From what I can see it wouldent work in my computer because I have the PSU in the usual place with it been over the CPU so its gonna be a little cramped.

On a review about the motherboard too, it says they only suport 8x8 PCI-E, so how is an 8800GTS working?

DS3P is a cracking clocker. Look in my siggy. I don't know about the Ninja though as i am on water.

I dunno, seems like you need the heatpipe stuff on the mobo for good overclocking.

The northbridge controls the communication between the CPU, RAM and GFX so if you increase the FSB in the BIOS, the NB inevitably is overclocked.

I may well be getting a NB cooler for my DS3 Rev 2 as would be nice to keep it cooler when overclocking.

Good luck with the upgrade.
