Upgrade help

Hello all. I'm looking at upgrading my pc and was wondering if these will work together well or not. Pretty new to this and could do with some advice.

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)

MSI P35 Neo2-FR Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AL1065) x2

Another thing I'd like to know is would I be better off with the quad core rather than dual as I will be running a few music programs at the same time. Other than that I will be using it mainly for gaming and internet. Thanks all.

wouldnt bother with that memory have a look at some 6400.

not seen much about the msi mobo maybe have a look at the abit ip35 or the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R.

quad will be fine, might be worth dropping down to dual, just depends what sort of gaming you do.
