Okay so first of all my current specification is as follows:

( Main use is gaming )

Code:
AMD Phenom II 550 X2 ( Unlocked to 4 core @ Stock )
Cheap aftermarket cooler
4GB Crucial DDR3 1333Mhz
Asus M4A785TD-V EVO Mobo
ATI 5770 @ Stock
300GB HD
Corsair 400W PSU
Cheap Case

I have £550 to spend on upgrades and I have decided on the following:

NZXT Phantom Enthusiast Full Tower Case - Black

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM

Antec TruePower New Modular 650W Power Supply

This leaves me with roughly £330 left to spend. I could wait for Sandy-Bridge and buy a CPU + MOBO. I could alternatively buy an SSD and a new GPU such as a 6950.

I could skip the SSD and get another HD for RAID0?

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could improve?

Also, will a 650W PSU be adequate for a possible future XFIRE/SLI ?

Thank you!

I would change the case. Its a nice looking case but there are better performing cases for less money.

Xigmatek Utgard

Is a personal recommendation (google for reviews if unconvinced).

Use the money saved to get a good CPU cooler to overclock your CPU. Or use it get a Seasonic/Corsair PSU.

Everything else looks pretty good.

Thanks for that. Here is my new spec :

Coolermaster CM-690 II Advanced Dominator Case

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM

Corsair HX 850W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply

OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive

HIS ATI Radeon HD 6950 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Total: £565

The case is out of stock at the moment though.

The Antec PSU you originally specced is v good and excellent value, don't be suckered in by "bigger" names, just cos it costs more doesn't necessarily mean it's better

Yeah should be fine, the 6 series are quite low power, go Anandtech or the like to dbl check if you like, sry posting from phone at work else I'd check myself

Just to clarify my part I never said that Antec PSUs were bad but on a global scale Corsair/Seasonic have been proven the most reliable in the long run. Obviously they know this and hence you pay a premium for them. However reliability isn't usually an issue if you're not using anywhere near the max output of the PSU but as 95thrifles said 2x 6950s is well within 650W so won't be a problem.
