Upgrade help

Hi folks been lurking on the forums for a while, but finally got round to registering today

Been looking at upgrading for a few months now ,probably to a i5 or i7 but not sure what to get

I would be looking at getting cpu and cooler , mobo and maybe ram

my current setup is
Phenom II x4 975
Asus crosshair IV mobo
8gb(4x2gb) corsair ram
Gigabyte 7850 gfx card
h50 cooler
HAF X case
750w coolermaster psu
crucial 120gb ssd
500gb +1tb seagate hdd
Scythe Kaze Master Ace 5.25inch Fan Controller
and some genric dvd burner

Looking at spending about £400 and get the best without overclocking , mainly used for playing games such as BF3, GW2 etc

Suggestions please

What resolution monitor do you have?

But having a quick look at your current spec, I can't see anything that needs immediate improvement.

Is your CPU overclocked?

yeah id wait if i were you. get some haswell (next intel cpus) action next spring/summer

The monitor is a 22" samsung running 1920x1080

Cpu was overclocked @4.3 but rolled it back to stock after having the system crash once it had been overclocked for a couple of weeks

Yeah feel like i could do with a bit more oomph, suppose i could replace the cooler and try a overclock again as im not that impressed with it , the cooler that is
