Hi all,
thinking of upgradng my trusty old 5850 1gb gfx card.

After some pointers.

7870?

or

7950?
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-065-HS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1673

Current rig
i7 930 2.8GHz
Not entirely sure what motherboard i have, it was bought as a 'Titan Goliath' bundle 2 years back.
I'm 99% sure it only supports PCI-e 2.0/2.1 though, and this is my concern.

Will the 7950 run on a PCIe 2.1 board?
Will I see any benefit over the 7870 running the 7950 on a board that doesn't support PCIe 3.0?

any help appreciated

Grom

for that price I'd say go for the 7950

Not sure how much the PCIe 2.0 or 3.0 thing will effect it though. Wouldn't of thought too much.

PCI-E 2.0 to 3.0 is very miniscule and will run just fine on your mobo. You wouldn't notice at all and I would also go for the 7950 :)

You wont notice any difference at all, ive had my gtx 670 in a pcie 2.0 x58 board and now my current pcie 3.0 board in sig.
