I've had this system for a few years, upgraded my graphics card.

ive been looking for a SSD, so apart from that what else would you recommend to upgrade.

system specs:
windows 10 pro
Intel core i7 cpu 950@ 3.07ghz
Corsair 8 gb (forget the specifics)
Geforce GTX TITAN Black 6144mb gddr5
1 Tb HDD for games.

cheers in advance

David

If your current system is working fine for you then no need to upgrade. One thing to remember is that if you do install an SSD that most if not all modern SATA based drives (and i'm presuming it's SATA based you're looking at) need SATA 6Gbps connections to really show their stuff, so check your mobo has the 6Gbps ports. If it doesn't you'll need a PCI-E add in card.

16gb of ram and an SSD

About all you can upgrade there, You won't see a huge upgrade with swapping GPU unless you are willing to spend £500+ but if that was the case i'd recommend changing cpu/motherboard/ram first.

My mobo has plenty of sata ports, how do I check whether they are 6Gbps? They the blue coloured ones? sorry only have a basic knowledge, I know how to throw them together about it hehe. I want to get a SDD drive, sometimes struggle with loading times.

I did have 16GB ram but two of the sticks became faulty.

16gb of ram is a huge help, i often run 8gb just transcoding a video on premiere.. heck i can hit 6-8gigs with just chrome tabs :P

It should tell you in your motherboard manual if you have it. If you don't, you may be able to download it. Failing that you could use a tool like Sandra Lite, it's free.

I should imagine that the gpu is being badly held back by the cpu. Overclocking the cpu will help a little but you would need a new cpu/mobo/ram to get the best out of that Titan Black.

I was thinking this, it quite old now. I can run most games at a good rate, but sometimes I feel it should be better.

motherboard is Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
this is my ram with 4gb missing due to faults: Corsair Vengeance 12GB (3x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz

both 5 years old now..wow didn't realise they where that old. Any suggestions on replacements

cheers dave
