Hi Guys

Just want a bit of advice my Sisters BF just bought a new PC

I5-10600k
and a 2060.

I'm trying not to be "that guy" but i'm of the firm belief he should have gone with a Ryzen 5600X and a 3070 the total cost would only be £200 more for an insane performance boost (christ i'd give him the 200 myself if it helps) assuming of course he can wait till stock is back, do you guys think I should get him to return it and wait or do you think it wlil last as long as a 5600x and 3070?

He paid 207 for the 10600k and 380 for the 2060. I know 3070s are be scalped right now but i real feel he got the short and of the stick.

Not sure if im over thinking it.

£380 for a 2060... give me his number I've got some magic beans to sell him!

Get that returned asap. Patience is a virtue.

That's what he bought, 391 for a MSI 2060

Ah it's a 2060 Super that's not as bad then.

To further elaborate it also depends what resolutions he is looking to play at. If it's 1440p that 8GB VRAM on both the 2060 Super and 3070 is going to get chewed up as time goes on. 18th November is the AMD 6000 launch and each card there has 16GB of VRAM.

Regardless I would return them. There is no point of going Intel. Heck even keep an eye out for the Ryzen 3600 it'll probably be £140 or below for black friday.

Yeh i feel the same i think he jumped the gun at the end of the cycle before the prices fell

@GregI Success! I talked him into sending them back (hopefully) I gave him a couple of Hardware Unboxed videos to watch for the 5600x and 3070.

He's gonna send back the Mobo, CPU Cooler (as the Ryzen 5600x Comes with one) so for £30 more asumming he pays the same for a mobo he will get a significantly better CPU.

I'm planning on buying a 6800XT if i can get one so i'm going to loan him my 1080ti for the time being until he can get a GPU at a reasonable price.

Anyone know how flexible OCUK is on returns?

He's had it for 3 weeks on monday, but because he's always away on training (Army) he wouldn't even be able to return it till next Friday =/

Damn this is a bummer, was his first PC build as well.
