I am looking to upgrade and take my PC to a better level

I first bought a Acer Preditor G3-605

Since then i have upgraded:

Graphics card - NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
RAM - 24.0 GB installed

Can anyone suggest what i would need to upgrade more - I would ideally like to play warhammer 3 total war at a decent level

Any help would be appreciated

I get about 120fps on warhammer total war II with an RTX3080 @1440p with the settings maxed but it does dip below 100 in big battles, if your targeting 60+ then you will probably want atleast a 3060ti / 6700XT if you don't want to drop too many settings.

Thank you for your help

I believe I have a 500w power supply

at the moment I don’t see any problem with that. Would I need to upgrade this if I wanted to use a better graphics card ?

yes..something like a 3070ti I'd be using a 750W..3080 min 750w, personally would go 850W, 3080ti/3090 I'd go 1000W(850 would suffice but ass shelling out for a new quality psu that has 10yrs warranty, I'd pay a bit more so next gpu 4/5 yrs down the line should be able to run on it also)
My rule of thumb, see power draw gpu/cpu, add them together, add a bit more for other components, then double it...that way your psu under load s/b running at 50% or slightly above (generally most efficient), isn't stressed, has room for any power spikes and gives you room for upgrade..(example, 3070ti chart just saw had power draw 280w to 325w while gaming.. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/msi-geforce-rtx-3070-ti-suprim-x/34.html
then if you upgrade mobo with a more modern cpu, lets say 12600, tweaktown had a max draw of 226w during cinebench r23..add those 2 together, you have 550w, then you have other components which not including here, but just those 2 maxed out(not often but could in theory) is 73% load on a 750w psu

3060ti max power is about 200W from what I look at, so s/b fine with your 500W psu

have you sub'd to fepart alert..3070Fe dropped today..that was £469...sold out in mins but without link, you'll have no hope of ever getting a card at msrp...you need telegram on your phone

Thank you

do you find there is much size difference In power supply are they all around the same physical size ? Just wondering if I need to get one that matches the size I have at the moment

generally atx and small form factor are the too sizes...the bigger psu, they can get longer...(i looked at the 850w corsair and 1000w corsair...1000w is longer), same dimensions otherwise so as to fit in the psu slot...some manufacturers that make own pc's produce their own psu's though, that have non standard size and case psu slot dimensions are not standard either...this hampers upgrading as you have to go back to them if you want to upgrade anything
best way open you case and have a look what's in there

If you didn't already buy your upgrade, you might find this article published today interesting:
