Upgrade Help

Hi,

I originally built my PC way back in 2013 and have been upgrading it ever since.

I have an EVGA GTX 1080 - it's getting a old and would like to upgrade to a newer graphics card.

I have done some research and the AMD RX 6800 XT seems to be a good card for the price, it is currently available around £599 (Overclockers UK).

My monitor is G-Sync however I am willing to overlook that, as I may get a new monitor in the next 12 months.

I am not that knowledgeable on PC buildng, so I am looking for help on understanding if the 6800 XT would work well with my build, or if there's a better option out there.

Hoping to run new games at 100hz 1440p.

Losing gsync for up to 12 months is a bad idea imo.

I would get an nvidia card so gsync continues to work. Then if you get a new monitor make sure it's "freesync with gsync compatible" so you aren't brand restricted by it.

If however you're really committed to getting an amd card and replacing the monitor then do both things at the same.

Is something wrong with the monitor?

Nothing wrong with the monitor, I haven't updated any of my setup in a few years so it was just an idea. Maybe a daft one considering it's still working fine.

Is there a Nvidia card you would recommend for upgrading in my situation? The 3080 is around £140 more expensive than the 6800XT but would have G-Sync.
