Hi guys,
I started typing this as a query for CPU upgrade, but it's expanded a bit.
I run a 920 @ 3.6-3.8 HT off with windows 7 on its own SSD boot-disk. I have another SSD for key games (mainly WoW) and then a third for storage.
I've recently started to notice some massive delays with general windows performance - even something simple like opening explorer. When these delays happen, there is occasionally a high pitch noise like a "zeeet" before it all kicks into action. My windows experience score for HD is now in the 5's...is this evidence that the SSD is on it's way out (probably about 3 years old)?
Now my I7 has served me well, but I'm starting to notice that its struggling a bit (@3.8) with some of the latest WoW content - but I'm not sure if it is the CPU or aforementioned Operating System SSD?
Either way, it's given me the upgrade itch. Do I wait for the new Haswell (and maybe a Rampage 5) or go with something like the 3930k?
I recently bought the GTX Titan to replace my 580 SLI setup. Absolutely brilliant card (and I'm guessing, partly why they cancelled the Mars 3?). I believe I can eliminate GFX as the problem. Would a 920 @ 3.8 do the Titan justice or am I bottlenecking all over the place?
Cheers
- Matt.
