Upgrade issues

I just installed a new i7 and 7850 graphics card, and my pc keeps crashing in 3d programs, although it is fine in games other then minimizing when they are played full screen

Using Rhino 4.0 for around half an hour i get this:

And after 2 minutes of 3ds max I got this:

Any idea how to fix this?

the card is the 2gb sapphire OC edition

Have you tried using the onboard graphics?
Have you overclocked anything?
Is the CPU & GPU Power connected?

Havent tried the onboard graphics, although all programs worked fine when I was using a 6670.

Only the graphics card might be overclocked, I've just gone into catalyst control centre and graphics overdrive looks like it might have been enabled by default.

yeah the power is connected, although I was worried the gpu wasnt plugged in properly, I didn't seem to want to fully push in and felt stuck when I tried to unplug ut
