I'd hang on to the rig unless you feels it's holding you back. I would probably go i7-Ivy if I had a bout of GAS (Gear Aquisition Syndrome). Or Bulldozer if it's any good.
To calm the urges, maybe a new funky case, a nice CPU cooler, and an overclocking session. That's something that will keep you busy. Bit like re-organising your toolbox, or cleaning the shed every once in a while.
