hi guys,

I've been getting the dreaded upgrade itch for like 3/4 weeks now.

What do you think is worth upgrading of my current system:

Samsung P2250 1920x1080
W7 64 bit
i7 920 @3.4ghz
Akasa Nero CPU Cooler
6GB Corsair XMS3 Ram PC12800
XFX ATi 4890 1gb GDDR5
Intel x-25m 80GB Gen2
Seagate Barra 500GB 16mb cache
Corsair TX 950
Gigabyte UD3 v1.6
Samsung DVDRW x22
Asus Xonar D1 7.1 Soundcard
Razer Deathadder Respawn
Razer Lycosa


I have been thinking about gfx upgrade but tbh - my 4890 really doesn't struggle. I play mostly L4D 1&2 and get around 130 fps all everything maxed out at 1080p so I didn't think there would be much point, am I wrong?

Don't think I need anything really but just got that bloody itch. I guess I could OC the 920 more and see if that made me feel like I was getting a free upgrade?

What do you guys think, anything you would change there if you had the itch?

It's about a £200 itch btw....

On a serious note, I guess I will just wait for the 6900 series to come out and see what their price/performance is like and maybe get a 6950 maybe.

I've got an Antec 902 case. Wanted the 1200 but cudn't fit it in budget and it is the last thing for me to spend money and the 902 is good enough for now. Food for thought though.....

@Trusty-X Yeah man, sorry. But an itch is an itch. Grass is always greener et cetera.

I guess I will just stick to seeing what the 6970 is like cos although I mostly play L4D 1&2 I will also play the new games, COD BO, Crysis 2 etc. It's just that in terms of online play left4dead is the only game that has kept me interested since TeamFortressClassic (1999 lol)

What about peripherals? Mouse cord feeder thing? I'm sure I saw that Razer had one of those that holds ur mouse cord in place.
