HI guys, I am suffering from upgrade-itis, and I'm really tempted to get a GTX670.

I have a 2500k overclocked to 4.6ghz, an Asus P8Z68-V mobo which is not PCI 3.0 ready, and GTX460 1gb SLI.

Question is will I see a significant performance gain playing BF3 if I upgrade to a 670, or do I need to upgrade the mobo as well ?

You will get no performance benefit by getting a PCI-E 3.0 motherboard (makes a difference for 3 graphics cards and above only) and you need an Ivybridge CPU anyway so it would be an even costlier upgrade than you thought. Regarding 670 vs 460 SLI I would say that just the doubling of the VRAM is going to help in BF3. BF3 uses around 1400-1550MB of VRAM at maximum settings and with a 670 you'll have enough GPU power to drive those settings as well.

460 SLI offers good performance thought and the difference won't be HUGE but it is better and if you can sell them for a decent amount then definitely go for it IMO.
