Upgrade itch

Hi first my specs i7 4770 @4.3Ghz / z97 mobo / 16 gig of ddr3 2400c16 / gtx 980ti oc / samsung evo ssd 750 gig / Benq 3200 monitor I have the itch to upgrade especialy with coffee lake out tomorrow the only thing is the stupid price of gfx cards ie £780 for a 1080ti should i wait another year or so for next gen gfx or bite the bullet and upgrade now.
I keep saying to myself your good, games you play atm run fine @1440p and you don't need to spend 3k on a new system on the other hand if i don't get it soon the wife will spend it on a cruise and it seems a waste to me, 2 weeks on a ship or a new pc....... hmmmmmm?

That's a decent setup.

No point in spending all that money for something slightly better.

I'd wait at least another year.

If you want, you could always buy a nice new case, then it would look all new and shiny again

I wouldn't. You still have a very good setup. To be honest I am not enthused by any of the new cpu's from either side. AMD doesn't have the single core performance that I need for my older games and Intels pricing is just ridiculous. Going by Intels past releases Coffeelake is most likely a 5-10% gain over Kabylake with the option to have a pair of extra cores. If you want the eight core cpu's that are supposedly coming next year it looks like that will require yet another chipset (Z390) according to this.
