Currently looking at upgrading my Asrock M3A770DE to a Asus Crosshair IV Formula AMD 890FX Also looking at Upgrading my OCZ Platinum 1333mhz ram to Corsair XMS3 4GB. My questions is will this be worth it? Right now the Highes OC i can get on my 1090T is 3.7GHZ Stable. Will I be able to hit 4.x if I get this upgrade? That is my main goal here. I will be using a few different air cooling techniques and modifications so I am not concerned about temps as of now. Just want to make sure this will be able to give me the bit of boost I am looking for .

Other Specs: HIS HD 5770 oc'd : OCZ StealStream 500w : 1090T :

Will be upgrading the PSU and GPU down the road when I upgrade my monitor. Currently my 5770 runs my monitor maxed out every game I play so is no problem yet. From the looks of it this board will give me the option to upgrade other components down the road.

Also not concerned about waiting for BD as I don't even use this PC to its limits yet just want a bit more OC out if it not really that I need it.

Any help / suggestions is always appreciated and Thanks in advance :)

if you arent using your PC to its limits then why are you trying to overclock it more?

personally i would save up for an i5 2500k + P67 or Z68 motherboard if you want to see a proper difference

*edit*
comparison of i5 2500k @ stock vs 1100T BE @ stock

i5 2500k can easliy clock to 4.6Ghz

Oh my, please don't buy a 890FX board now - they are about to be replaced. Also, it seems pretty redundant since you already have your CPU to 3.7GHz, realistically with these 1090T chips you can only expect to get up to 4.1GHz at the very best, this is only an 11% increase in clockspeed for a large cost.

I would also strongly suggest against upgrading the RAM, going from 1333MHz to 1600MHz on an AM3 system will not make a lick of performance difference.

Instead I would upgrade the PSU and graphics card first - with a Phenom II X6 @ 3.7GHz CPU and a HD 5770 GPU then in pretty much all games you are going to be heavily graphics card limited. If your resolution is pretty low and not taxing your 5770, then I would suggest upgrading the monitor too.

This PSU is an excellent deal at the moment and will handle any single GPU card you can throw at it.

Thank you andi type of info I was looking for. Just bought this PSU a few weeks ago for the same price as the one you listed :/ my old PSU blew on me and at the time could not afford to wait for a new one had to go to the shop and get it :(
