Upgrade Monitor V GPU

Hey guys,
Looking for a bit of advice/opinion. Have a Budget of about 500-650.
Currently have 2 x 24" 16:9 1980 x 1080 2ms Monitors

My thoughts were to either a large screen
30-32" at 2560 x 1080
or
27-29" with 3840 x 1440.

I mainly game, then general use is watching streaming TV or coding (network wise - so super wide could be good).
One concern is that upgrading past 1080 might kill my 290x gaming edition 4GB GPU, so should I look at upgrading that first?

Any suggestions, thoughts on ppl who have gone back from dual to single and regretted it etc. Thanks in advance

Hi Smogsy,
I appreciate the response on the original post. Im still contemplating getting th emonitor and then hopefully upgrading the GPU come end of Jan,Feb.

Still googling the difference between the monitors as above

If you're going to wait till January or February to upgrade again then I'd probably just get the monitor first and see how your current GPU handles it. If it doesn't handle the games you play very well then just lower the settings till you upgrade again in a couple of months time.
