upgrade my 4870

ok, i cant afford to go i5 at the mo so, im going to get a new gpu - My 4870 512 has been brilliant. Really great but i need a little performance boost really.

So for £200 MAXIMUM what would be a good gpu upgrade? 5770?

To be honest you would be better off saving up with that system or going for the AMD 955 BE + Mobo.

The 5770 is unlikely to significantly boost your performance.

Nah, save your cash. 5850 should drop near that budget soon enough

Is this for gaming? whats the E6600 clocked too? Those things still run great in games

6600 is at 3.2hz on air. Runs an absoloute treat!

I suppose i should really wait for an i5 / i7 build? people seem to be completely disregarding AMD offerings at the momment? are they still slightly behined in the processor market?

i5/7 is the stronger processor but this power isn't transfered over when gaming where the higher/more res and eye-candy you put on the more the FPS becomes GPU limited.

Best combo for gaming is; decent processor and high end GFX.

Thought I read on here I think in general section prices should be taking a nose dive end of Jan much more than the increase in VAT due on the 1st, I guess it's one thing you can rely on in the computing sector always something new coming out which affects prices.
