Would i get better FPS in BF3 as currently all im getting is about 22 on average :(
on most other games im 35+. If i had the money for both cpu / gpu upgrade i would, so id thought id post here to see what you guys would do. :D
Also i think my GPU has been causing me bluescreen recently caused my driver dxgkrnl.sys which is very annoying.

You CPU is fine and will not bottleneck the current gen single GPU card in BF3.

Raw speed wise your 4870x2 would be close to the GTX560Ti 2GB and and 6950 2GB at stock speed, but the latter two cards will give you smooth gameplay due to being single GPU (your 4870x2 might have chance of getting micro-shutter), higher minimum frame rate, more VRAM, and with ability to overclock by roughly 20-23.5%, and also you'd be able to game in dx11 instead.

If you are already experiencing issue with your existing 4870x2, then I would say it's definitely worth considering upgrading the graphic card. If you budget allows, just upgrade to a GTX580...as I said before, you CPU will be perfectly fine and not bottleneck it in BF3:

Thanks for the quick reply :) so would you go nvidia or Ati. and for the money you think either one of those cards will give me better performance? and im hoping it will solve my bsod. with a bit of (wishful thinking)

GTX560TI 2GB is pretty much on par with 6950 2GB...one will be faster than the other in some games. But if I recall correctly, specifically in BF3 the 6950 is faster than the GTX560Ti.

But if you can wait, there's a new GTX560Ti that's coming out soon with more processing cores (so it will be faster), and AMD's next gen cards are rumour to be out by end of the year/early next year.

As for your BSOD issue you are experiencing at the moment, I think it is most likely due to either

a) your 4870x2 overheating (I've heard lots of 4870x2 owners having this problem, but it "may be" solvable by cleaning out the dust that build up on the heatsink inside the graphic card cooler and appling next thermal paste

or b) your Jeantech 650W PSU is not providing stable/enough power on the 12v rail, so system might crash when the PSU is under stress (high power consumption), when it is not getting feeding the system enough power that the system require
