upgrade my i5?

Hi, im just looking for some advice regarding my i5-6600k 3.50GHz processor and if it is worth upgrading to an i7 processsor or an i9? I havent overclocked my current processor and im not sure if i should go down that route first?
Any advice would be great thanks.

What do you use the PC for? What's the graphics card and memory?

Graphics card is Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 and memory is Team Group Delta 16gb 2x8GB DDR4 3000mhz dual channel, and in case in makes any difference the motherboard is Gigabyte Z170 Gaming K3. I pretty much use it for gaming and some basic pen testing practice.

ALWAYS try to get the most out of every chip I have owned by overclocking - if it can stave off the need to upgrade for a further six months, all the better.

The tech you want now will be a lot cheaper in 6 months time
