Hi all.

Ok i have a old pc thats not to bad its runs HL2 on max with 40-90 fps woo lol.

But when it comes Counter strike and putting like 16 bots on i think my cpu cant handle it and i get about 6-7 fps .

So i was thinking untill i can get my new pc witch will be in 4-5 months would this upgrade be worth it to keep me gaming untill i got some more cash ?

my pc spec atm is

CPU = P4 2.8 HT
motherboard = msi ... thats all i Know and its about 3-4 years old lol
RAM = 1 gig 3200
PSU = hiper 580 watts modular
GFX = BFG 7800 GS OC 256 MB AGP
Harddrive = 80 gig idle ( can this be used in the new mother board i have chosen ? thanks)
DvD rom
windows xp home

Ok so i looking at this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-151-IN

Now its only a 1.60GHz so not sure how much better that would to the P4 2.8 i have now ?

And with duel core cpu i need a board that can use it so http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-011-AK

That one seem ok?

and 1 gig of ram now days is not very good for games so http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-096-CS

All works out for £156.53

Thanks for any help

Thats a jump from £150 to £400 but i don't think i can use my AGP graphics card in them motherboards ?

I wish i had £400 to spend on upgrades but i can really only go to about £170 max.

thanks

I would go for;

Should give you a nice boost over that P4 :) you should be able to overclock the CPU a bit on the board also.

If you've only got £170 to spend then your options are pretty limited. Maybe look at overclocking your existing setup whilst saving for a decent upgrade.

I wouldn't bother changing anything at the moment, put that money aside and then wait until you've got some more :)

Cut down on gaming for a while :p

I mean if i could save like £600 then i could get like a GTS or something with a really nice cpu as i already have a 19" wide screen monitor and a nice thermaltake Mozart Tx case.

you never know i mite win the lotto lol :)
