I want to upgrade from 4gb to 8, my motherboard is the gigabyte Z68AP-D3, currently I am using Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24), can I go for any old ram? or must it be dual channel?

also, what are the different PC3 things, and do they matter when upgrading my ram? thanks,

sam ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

yes, stick it in the same slots,or coming from cpu to front of case, leave first slot empty, second slot put ram in,third slot leave empty and fourth slot put ram in and thats it

yeah sell on ebay or here on the member market,i wouldnt mix it with the vengeance ram as it might cause instability, its best to buy all matching ram ect,make/model

where do I find it, is it dual channel?

Dual channel doesn't exist, rather memory or RAM (however you wish to refer to it) that can be run in dual channel mode providing you install two matched DIMM's in a suitable motherboard in the correct DIMM slots.

Almost all PC memory these days being DDR2 and DDR3 is sold in dual channel packs (meaning matched DIMM's) or more i.e. four DIMM's.

Depending on yout motherboard it will support dual, triple or quad channel memory configuration thus operation.

In the case of P67/Z68 it's dual channel at most at PC3-12800 spec unless overclocked.
