Hi all

Thinking of upgrading my 8 year old LG 32" LCD to something bigger and better.

Budget is around £350, which looks to be achievable going by the rainforest but I have no idea where to start!

Oh, and it needs to fit on an Ikea LACK tv bench so no stands deeper than 26cm or wider than 90cm!

You'll be able to check dimensions for yourself. I'll just deal with the sets and what to avoid.

43" UHD 4K for £350 is at the lower-end of the price spectrum for that size of TV; so while there appears to be a reasonable amount of choice, there's a lot of stuff where the name badge has very little to do with who makes the panel and electronics.

Safe bets are Samsung and Sony.

LG make their own budget sets too, but their 6200, 6300 and 6400 series sets have a reputation for.poor brightness.

Philips is now made by a firm called TPV. Reliability was always a questionmark. Buy with a long warranty.

Panasonic have some of their base-model sets made by Vestel, a Turkish manufacturer of many of the cheap supermarket/Argos/discount retail tellies. There are similar manufacturers based in China and Western Europe. They're not all horible quality, but you only get what you pay for.
