Hi team, I’m I need of some trusty experience here....

My rig consists of,

Corsair 680X

AMD Ryzen 7 3800X Eight Core 4.5GHz

Asus Prime X570-P

Corsair Hydro Series H100i Platinum

Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB 3200mhz

EVGA 2080ti FTW3

I’m looking at grabbing the https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...4-x570-chipset-atx-motherboard-mb-6dz-as.html

Is it worth my while?
The pc is used primarily for gaming.

Is there any paticular reason you are contemplating a change of motherboard?

They both are using the X570 chip, for gaming the VIII Formula shouldn't make much difference, unless you are finding it difficult to increase the speed of the RAM maybe.

What about the hero or the 570 E gaming? The ram isn’t overclockable on the board I have atm.

If RAM overclocking is the issue, both the 570 E Gaming and Crosshair VIII Hero should be more than capable to overclock decently. The 570 E is rated to be able to achieve 4400Mhz speed and VIII Hero is rated for 4800Mhz maximum speed.

I personally have the Crosshair VIII Hero and overclocking RAM is a breeze.

For Ryzen 3000 Series, 3600Mhz seems to be the sweet spot, so either board should do the job nicely.

I’m only running 3200mhz 32GB ram atm, I was under the impression the higher the MHz the higher the latency also? And is it a myth that when u overclock the ram u lose cpu performance?

if I was to swap out the mobo for a hero and upgrade the ram to 3600mhz I wouldn’t see much of a difference in gaming would I?
Sorry for all the questions but when it comes to mother boards it’s hard to source good info on google and YouTube.

It also depends on the RAM you have, for Ryzen 3000 the infinity fabric is a little different to 1st gen Ryzen (Ryzen 1000/2000) where 3200Mhz was perfect, and 3200Mhz is near perfect for Ryzen 3000 as well.

But it also depends on the timing setting as well. This video on youtube shows what difference there is between the RAM speeds and tight timings have on gaming performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IY_KlkQK1Q

Use it to judge whether a new motherboard is worth it to get higher RAM speeds. The difference in gaming performance is there, but it's not a massive difference IMO.

Thanks for the help man, that video is really good. I think with a new board oc the ram would be worth it.

would likely be cheaper and better performance wise to get better ram. I have the 8 pack stuff running at 3800/16 on my lowly b450 tomahawk.

The 3950x would probably net you a few extra fps also if you got money burning a hole in your pocket!.

I agree.

I have been looking at that, I was just about to place an order there and they have been took off the sale, chances of that :(
