Upgrade needed for Intel g840 system

This system becomes slightly laggy/unresponsive when lots of IE9 tabs are open. Task manager shows CPU at 100% (iexplorer.exe) at times and RAM was about 80%.

Would adding gpu improve things?

Intel g840
H61 Motherboard
4GB RAM
Win 7 64bit
SSD

Yes, system has an SSD.

It's not my PC and not my choice to use IE. Will ask my mum to use Chrome/FireFox instead.
