New to the forums so a big hello to everyone

Looking to get an upgrade on my Mk2 Honda Jazz

Missus complains that its tight in the back when we have a full load, doesn't help that we have a chunky car seat installed

Got a budget of 5k max

Only do 5K miles a year so a petrol would be best

Been Looking at the Octavia, Civic , Mazda 6 even a Ford C-Max

any other models worth considering?

Thanks in advance

(you've now had the 3 obligatory OcUK forum car recommendations)

The 3rd is the one most will probably recommend... maybe the Octavia.

not really considered the mondeo....mileage figures look poor from what i've seen online... what engine would you guys recommendfor the octavia... the 1.8tsi or the 1.4 tsi....read a lot of people have had problems with the 1.8tsi engines, apparently burn oil and tensioner issues...any confirm this...tnx

Mondeo in 2.0 petrol would be my choice also. 5k should get a nice 2010 with low mileage. Loads of room in the back and a massive boot. Should also on paper be less problematic than the Tfsi engines in the Octavia. The C max is also a good choice if you want something higher up to get kids in and out of easier

Matron!

Petrol is definitely the right shout. Is it just you the lady and a single kid? Any immediate plans for more? If not I'd be putting my cash towards a focus. Should be able to get a 2010-2011 model.

A Jazz is just as practical space wise as a Civic and Focus, I don't think you'd see much benefit. Something Octavia Estate sized would be the next logical step up if you wish to avoid giving up on life and getting an MPV.

The Jazz is surprisingly spacious, I was unfortunate to have one as a courtesy car when the Accord had to go in for a recall.

This was a 14 plate car and besides the space inside, it felt worse to drive than my old 2002 1.2 Clio.

Speaking of Accord, I'll suggest the Accord, not far off an 8th gen for that budget.
