Hey guys I'm looking at upgrading my PC soon.

My PC is for gaming and I want to make sure I can run many programs at once, without slow down, or high temps etc.

Current specs that I'm keeping:
Case: Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced
PSU: Lepa G-Series 900W
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 580 OC Twin FrozR II

New upgrades that I'm after:

CPU - i7 (I don't know the details of the differences between the processors, what will be best for me, seems obvious to go for the highest clock speed).

Is Intel Core i7-2700K 3.50GHz the best option?

Mobo - Something that can handle my wanted/current specs - I assume 1155 socket, allow for OC'ing, high amount of RAM (8+).

I seen this offer which seems good, but is it recommended? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-199-MS

RAM - Not exactly sure on what's best, looking at as much as possible without going too expensive. Maybe 8GB.

CPU Heatsink & Fan : My current fan and heatsink has not gave me the best of results so I need a new one, one that is compatible with an i7 processor. Something to keep the temps low as possible.

Another question I have is; my case has holes for the mobo to be screwed in, but the mobo screws go into other screws which attach to the case. I think these are called pillar screws: shown here: http://images.devshed.com/dh/stories/Building_System_Scratch/scews.jpg

However I have some missing currently meaning I have had to spread the screws across the mobo to attach it, will these come with buying a motherboard? If not where can I find extra ones for my case ?

I'm open to any recommendations or advice. Thanks for any help, I appreciate it.

What programs are you looking at running?

You will need to have a search around the net for stand-offs, Ocuk don't sell them separately.

Do you have a max budget in mind?

Ok, I presume that's what the screws are called. Thanks for the help.

Well the Mobo's and CPU's all seem to be similar priced - around 250 for the CPU and 150-200 for the Mobo. Plus there are often bundles for the RAM too.

I would probably say around £500 for CPU, Mobo, RAM, Fan+Heatsink.

See my build above :)

Thanks for putting that together!

That definitely looks like something I had in mind.

Do you know what CPU temps I could expect from a build like that. It's just an issue I've had with my current build, and I'm wanting to make sure I'll have nice temps.

No probs :)

Hard to say on the temps, the cooler is excellent for its price, so you should see respectable temps :)

- Also I was wondering how the Heatsink and Fan fits onto the Mobo.

My current fan screws right into the mobo like this: http://www.pacificgeek.com/productimages/xl/DI5-9HDSL-0L-GP-2.jpg

Is it similar, just the pictures of that cooler look quite different to what I've used before. Just making sure I know what to expect when I get it.

Edit: Nevermind, I just watched an installation video on YouTube, I see how it attaches now.
