Upgrade/New Build Advice

Hi, my PC is 6/7 years old now and i've replaced and upgraded a few parts over the years and now looking to start fresh and transfer over the newer parts to a new build.
Just need some advice over whether what I've got in mind is worth it or good value for money for futureproofing.

Current Build:

I5 6600k 3.9Ghz,
Asus z170-p,
Aorus Radeon RX 5700XT GPU,
Kingston Fury Black 16GB DDR4,
Bitfenix Neos ATS Tower,
Arctic Alpine 11GT Rev.2 CPU Cooler,
Seasonic Focus PX-850 850W PSU,
WD Blue SN550 2TB SSD M.2
Seagate SSHD 2TB.

Build a friend recommended for me:

MSI Z690-A Wifi DDR4 Motherboard,
Intel I5-13600k 14 Core 3.5GHz,
BeQuiet Dark Rock 4 Air CPU Cooler,
Lian-Li Lancool II Mesh RGB Case,

And would transfer over the PSU, GPU, Ram and SSD and SSHD over from the current build. I could get an I5-12600k instead which is still good and would cut down the costs a bit too. Would it be worth the extra costs for the 13600k? I don't know much about BeQuiet or Lian-Li as brands or whether there is better value for money elsewhere?

you could, but i'd stick with the 13600k tbh
better single core performance
also has 8 e-cores compared to 4 of the 12600k

I don't know much about BeQuiet or Lian-Li as brands or whether there is better value for money elsewhere?
the dark rock 4 is a bit anaemic to cool the 13600k properly
you'd be looking at either the dark rock pro 4 or something equally as beefy

the fuma 2 has the cooling capabilities of the dark rock pro 4, but the price of the dark rock 4 (well actually the fuma 2 is cheaper than either, so win-win)

alternatively to the above, could consider an aio liquid cooler - you'd need a 240mm at minimum, but ideally a 280mm or 360mm to deal with the 13600k

obviously they'll look more aesthetically pleasing in the case, but will cost more, and are less reliable than a lump of metal heatsink
performance-wise with a 280/360mm radiator, arguably better than most/all high-end heatsinks

the lancool 2 is fine, very decent case
cases are personal preferences so your choice, really

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I'll go for the 13600k then.

What put me off about AIO liquid cooling was I was told the liquid will eventually run out and need replacing much sooner than an air cooler. But I did have a look at the MSI C240 AIO liquid cooler as an alternative. Is it possible to repair AIOs in the future or is it a case of having to replace the whole part?

Are there any minimum specs I should look out for in terms of airflow if I was to look into other Air coolers? The pro and the one you linked do look like much better bets than Dark Rock 4.

if it's the pump that fails, then no - needs replacing
if it's the coolant permeating and running low, then yes, but often a hassle

Ah ok, I think I'm looking for something more on the reliable side. Something that will last another 5+ years with minimal upgrading. Sounds like it might be worth spending a bit more on a good dual tower heatsink then.

The 13600k is better if you're looking for futureproofing and performance. It's a 14-core processor with a base clock of 3.5GHz, which is a good amount of power for gaming and other tasks.
BeQuiet Dark Rock 4 Air CPU Cooler is a good choice for cooling, and the Lian-Li Lancool II Mesh RGB Case is a great choice for a stylish and well-ventilated case. The PSU, GPU, RAM, and SSDs you have are all good choices, so you should be able to transfer them over to the new build without any issues. Overall, the build you have in mind is a good choice for futureproofing and performance, and should provide you with a great gaming experience.
