Im in the process of finally getting around to upgrading or replacing my current computer, its been a long time since i have built anything, and while mini itx was novel at the time i think if i went for a new system i would go for something a little bigger.

Anyway my current spec is.

i3 530 2.93
Gigabyte H55N-USB3
MSI Cyclone 768mb 460 GTX
4GB DDR3 Ram

and the case i have at the moment is a Lian Li Q11.

I have a budget of about £600 and was basically looking for advice on whether i should upgrade and spend some of the left over money on some new peripherals (keyboard could do with an update) or if i should abandon this one and start again.

I'd say a new rig is in order really.

Perhaps a Corsair 350D :)

What spec is the memory, what PSU do you have and do you have any drives/SSD's or DVD drives that you can reuse?

And would you need a new OS?

I have copies of windows 8 and windows 7 i can use.
I have a 1TB drive I can probbably salvage but would ideally like an SSD.
OCZ ModXStream Pro 500w Silent SLI Certified Modular Power Supply
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit #
Copied those from my overclockers order from 2010.

Just a little info on what i will be doing.
I occasionally make youtube videos and stream on twitch.tv
I am a games programmer so will need to be able to do that.

I said £600 is my budget but if im getting a new system i could probbably spend a little more, and may be able to raise some funds selling off my old system.

This is pretty much a new spec. Case is personal preference but this is a solid option.

You can still use your psu and hdd. I put in some more memory as 8gb is ideal especially with next gen consoles coming out soon.

SSD will be enough for the os and a few programs that you use regularly. Should speed it up by a good amount!

The reason I specced a new cpu is that an i3 isn't going to do very much if you want to edit and i3's aren't great for games.

The mobo comes with a cpu cooler so will allow you to oc, which you will be able to do as its a good mobo and the cpu is unlocked. Comes in at just under £700 btu you are essentially getting a new system.

Thought I'd throw out a mATX 350D build, in the interest of keeping things a little smaller. That and I love the 350D lol, check out Neoni's recent build.

You could easily get yourself some blue Bitfenix Alchemy braided extension cables later on, to match the motherboard and GPU ;)

4GB of the same memory you already have, so you can re-use your old stuff as well to get 8GB, the money saved helps pay for the more expensive case.

ill edit my original checkout post with these better parts

edit: I changed the memory to some team group 1600mhz memory as speed has a very small effect on game performance for £10 more; and the ssd to the evo.
