This is my first post here, so be easy on me :P

Should I upgrade to an HD 4850 now? or wait a bit till CeBit (March 3) to see what new graphics cards are coming (e.g. RV790 & RV740)?

You'll always play the 'should i wait game', as soon as you buy that one another one will be out, cheap and faster guaranteed.

For me personally i think of IT gadgets having a short shelf life if you wanna stay up to date with products.

What i always say is, buy something that will last a bit longer in terms of current graphic requirements. Something that will see you into 2010.

My current graphics card is a 7900GS, I play on a 20'' monitor
my specs:
Core2Duo E6420 OC'd to 3.2GHz
4GB OCZ 800MHz RAM
Palit 7900GS
X-Fi XtremeMusic Fatal1ty Pro

I won't be too bothered If new graphics cards that are coming out are 2 months+ away, in that sort of situation, I would emmidiately upgrade to whatever fits my purpose.
but these new one's that are going to come out seems like they're going to come out next month. So I'm quite worried about upgrading and then a month later, something cheaper and better comes out and then regret my upgrade.

If the 40nm ATI and NVidia cards (4890 and GT212 perhaps?) come soon, then I would say wait for them.
Any card that you buy now, such as a 4850 will be a massive boost over the 7900GS though.

when the new cards eventually come they're going to be expensive. I think theres no point in ever waiting for a graphics card. I'd buy a 4850 now since you obviously need an upgrade then when any new cards take your fancy in the you can sell the 4850...

Personally, whenever I want to build a new PC or decide I want/need a new component then I never wait.

When the next 'big thing' coming arrives there's always some other 'big thing' just around the corner.

If you've got the cash and want to then go for it, a 4850 will br a nice upgrade for your system imo.

Buying it now does seem very tempting to me simply because of the idea of having a better system.
However, I decided to wait.
I thought about this quite hard, and I don't think waiting for 1 month can't do any harm to me.
Here are some reasons that makes me think I shouldn't upgrade yet.
1.) I don't play anything just yet except for Starcraft and CSS, which aren't graphically demanding at all.
2.) I only really want to be able to playDiablo 3, Starcraft 2 and FEAR 2 on max or near max settings, which are not even out yet, so there is no point. I'll probably play other games too, but those 3 are top priority to play :)
3.) There is no harm in waiting, I can't imagine the price of HD 4850 going up. As for the new one's that are coming out, there is no way I can tell what their price would be on release, but sure enough, the HD 4850's price won't move, it can only go down.
4.) 3 weeks to see whats up really isn't much of a wait.

Thanks for your opinion's guys.
