Finally getting round to upgrading my old rig and I've got a fair idea of what I want but I'm just checking out to see if there are any better options that I've overlooked.

Will be used mostly for gaming, browsing the net and streaming media via xbox to my tv using TVersity.

I need cpu, mobo and RAM.

I've got a h100 that I'll be using as a cooler so just the three elements needed.

I'd build it myself again so no need for a pre overclocked bundle or the like.

I'd like a decent cpu setup, probably i5 but if I could get an older gen i7 then that too would be fine.

Everything would be tucked into my 600t case so space isn't a problem.

Ideally around the 300 quid mark but cheaper if possible.

...side note, would it be worthwhile getting on the MM and seeing what's there in terms of the 3 components?

Is it worth going for the new AMD 8 core E chips and clock the nuts off them with a decent AMD mobo, or get an intel setup with an average board for my budget?

for the money... intel would be a powerful option, but with ram and i5... not much money left for a good board

amd is cheaper, can clock the nuts off them even with a cheaper board.. also sell the gpu and whatever money is left over, get a slightly better gpu, but t 270x is a great card, socould keep it

I got a spur of the moment buy on a MSI 280x so will try and recoup some of that by selling my 270x. Got it from the MM.

Might see if anyone will sell me the 3 components in there too. Might get a decent i5 or older i7 setup for the money
