Hi,

Just wondering if there is any sensible upgrades on this spec that would give me a good performance boost without costing the earth or is it time for a new rig ?

If you play games then a new gfx card.

While you have two you should find a single new card stronger overall especially when sli doesn't work.

Overclock the CPU (add a chunky heatsink) and you will be fine with that for awhile longer.

Thanks

Meant to say on the spec list that it has a Corsair H100 Cooler

Never overclocked the CPU so far.

PC is mostly used for gaming so what the best bang for buck on a single card ?

Take it the 8GB Ram is okay for playing games for a while yet ?

GTX970 also plenty of bang for bucks.

Overclock CPU to 4.4GHz, or higher. The Extreme 4 has automatic overclock presets, if you don't know how to do it (although Sandybridge is one of the easiest CPU to overclock manually). Got a 2500K to 4.4GHz without really trying on that board. Run OCCT, or whatever stress and monitoring software for a few hours, check for stability.

Could also try to find a unmolested 2600K / 2700K. They are still expensive second hand though.
